A new plant-based film forming agent, acting as an effective barrier against atmospheric pollutants. Produced from pea starch, it creates and leaves a flexible, non-occlusive, smooth and continuous barrier over the skin. The film allows long-lasting effect and prevents from color transfer in make-up application. In vivo efficacy evaluation in protecting the skin against carbon black micro-particles modeling urban atmospheric pollutions: under the adopted experimental conditions, a product with 4% of this film- former demonstrates efficacy in decreasing the skin adhesion of the carbon black micro- particles. In the areas treated with the products, after rinsing, the skin lightness is increased, stating a decrease in the particulate.

EXTRACT FROM PIASTACIA LINTISCUS TREE (FUNCTIONAL DOSE – 0.25%)

Oil obtained by supercritical CO2 extraction from crystal drops collected on Pistacia lentiscus, a tree which is native to the Island of Chios (Greece).

The resinous sap produced by this tree forms drops as it falls to the ground. Once solidified, thesedrops take on a crystalline shape and are known as “crystal tears”.

IN VIVO TEST PROTOCOL: Mascaras formulated with 0.25% of this active has been applied to the upper lashes, from the base of the eyelashes to the tips, with a minimum of 20 passages on eacheye, for 28 days on 10 volunteers. Eyelashes length was measured directly on the subjects with a digital camera. The active induces an increase of eyelashes length: +5% on average and up to 44%.
